NICE TO MEET YOU.

I am honored to introduce myself as both a family medicine doctor and addiction medicine specialist.

I aim to deliver culturally-responsible care with a focus on harm reduction. I spend most of my clinical time caring for the queer community, people experiencing homelessness, and those with substance use disorders.

I love to learn new things, travel, visit National Parks, try new recipes, walk my dogs and get lost in a good book.

PROJECTS

LOW BARRIER GENDER AFFIRMING CARE CLINIC

Using an "urgent care-like" model, the low barrier gender health clinic is a walk-in safer space for gender-affirming care. This clinic functions inside the low-barrier addiction medicine clinic. Learn more here.

GENDER EXPANSIVE CLOSET FOR THE HOMELESS

The implementation of a gender-expansive clothing closet for transgender people experiencing homelessness, in order to improve gender dysphoria, build trust in the community, and increase access to health care and social services.

STREET AND MOBILE MEDICINE

I have learned a new skill set practicing medicine from a van and walking the streets. One must rely on resourcefulness, creativity, and flexibility when delivering high-quality care in these unique settings.

HARM REDUCTION FOR HEALTHCARE 101

Creation of "Harm Reduction for Healthcare 101" training material, which teaches healthcare workers about the unique history of harm reduction and the mission to meet people where they are.

THE RAINBOW CLINIC

Helped establish the newest specialty clinic at the Valley Family Medicine Residency Program in Modesto, California, specializing in LGBTQ+ health care. Resident-run clinic offering complete primary care with an emphasis in gender-affirming therapy, mental health, and substance use treatment. Learn more here.

CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

Helped establish the new residency curriculum on addiction medicine and gender health at the Valley Family Medicine Residency in Modesto, California. Created didactics presentations, attended national conferences, co-founded The Rainbow Clinic.
